The Ugly Side of Landscape Photography

Sometimes luck just isn't on your side... this morning was no exception! As a landscape photographer, early mornings are the perfect time to capture that perfect composition, so at 5:00 am, I packed up the gear and headed to Wareham with the guys over at South Coast Photography Club hoping to capture a foggy sunrise over Corfe Castle.

With first light hitting at 06:01 and a project sunrise of 07:13, we gave ourselves plenty of time to setup and frame our shots. Unfortunately, after parking up in the National Trust car park and heading to the top of sunrise hill facing East over Corfe Castle, it was a simple waiting game to see if the fog would clear!

It was great to meet fellow photographers also searching for that foggy shot over the castle but to our dismay, the fog decided to stick around and there was still no sign of clearing by 08:15. Even though we didn't grab any shots, it was still great to get up early and go for a brisk walk over the hills and talk photography with other enthusiasts.  Maybe better luck next time!
